FFA Alumni Auction Raises Scholarship Funds

One of the most exciting and fun-filled activities during the National FFA Convention is the Annual Alumni Association Auction. The 2004 auction raised over $80,000 for student scholarships, and this year's auction promises to be just as successful.

The live and silent auctions give FFA alumni and other participants a chance to bid on great items and show their support of the FFA. At last summer's annual FFA Convention, a year's use of a New Holland TS125A tractor and BR780 round baler with Bale Slice™ was one of the hottest items offered.

(L to R) Jeremy Jones, Matthew Anderson, Shane Weisman and Coty Back. A year's use of the New Holland tractor and round baler received the highest bid of any item offered at the 2004 FFA Alumni Association auction.

During the lively auction, Kentucky farmers Shane Weisman and Jeremy Jones placed the winning bid. The tractor/round baler combo was presented to them just in time for haying season at Montgomery Tractor Sales in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. Two Kentucky state FFA officers, Coty Back, Kentucky State Vice President and Matthew Anderson, Kentucky State Treasurer, joined New Holland representatives for the presentation.

The 2005 FFA Alumni Auction promises to be another lively fundraiser. It will be held on October 28 at the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. New Holland was pleased with the high degree of participation at the 2004 auction, and is working on creating a similar auction package for 2005.

100,000th New Holland Boomer™ Compact Tractor

On April 11, 2005, the 100,000th New Holland Boomer™ compact tractor emerged from the Dublin, Georgia, Manufacturing Operations facility amid cheers from the plant's employees and local civic leaders. Ten current employees, who were among the original workforce that assembled the first New Holland compact tractors at Dublin, were also honored. The Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority originally built the Dublin Manufacturing Operations facility in 1994 to attract industry to the town. In 1996, the facility began assembling New Holland compact tractors with 29 employees. The plant currently employs approximately 100 individuals and assembles tractors that are shipped throughout the world.

The folks who assemble New Holland compact tractors proudly celebrated an important milestone. The employees with white shirts near the tractor are among the employees who worked on the first Boomer tractor.
