Group praises New
Hollands long-range vision
It fuels vehicles at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.
It keeps on-site generators and boilers operating at a California
hospital. It powers school busses, fire engines, trucks,
tractors and riverboats. It even runs the tour bus for the
Grammy-award winning Indigo Girls. Some people say the exhaust
it emits smells like French fries! Biodiesel, which commonly
utilizes soybeans as its source, is becoming more widely
accepted every day and its potential seems to show no limits.

New Holland backs the continued development of biodiesel, and
is proud of the connections the company has made with this important
industry, says Allen R. Rider, Vice President of New Holland North
America Agricultural Business.
Clearly, the biodiesel industry has an opportunity to play
a fundamental role in the future of energy use as it relates to
the environment, availability, benefits to farmers, and to other
industries as well. As we in the industry work to explore greater
roles for biodiesel, it is important that we keep in close contact
with representatives of the biodiesel industry and the research
information they are developing. The Biodiesel Alliance provides
the mechanics for making this happen.

The Biodiesel Alliance (founded by the National Biodiesel
Board) is a group of diverse organizations, agencies
and businesses that share common ground in their support
of biodiesel fuel. Proponents of biodiesel, from health
and environmental groups and parent-teacher organizations
to fire departments and businesses, have joined the
Biodiesel Alliance to show their support for this
clean-burning, renewable alternative fuel.
To encourage greater participation in the Biodiesel
Alliance, The National Biodiesel Board and New Holland
have joined efforts on a new membership recruitment
program. The top prize for recruiting the most new
Biodiesel Alliance members between February 25 and
December 31, 2003 is a one-years use of a New
Holland compact tractor.
Although the Biodiesel Alliance membership consists
of organizations, agencies and businesses only, individuals
can show their support by becoming a Biodiesel Backer.

What is biodiesel?
Biodiesel is a fuel that can be made from any vegetable
fat or oil, but is most commonly made from soybean oil.
Although it contains no petroleum, it can be blended with
petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend.
