No patriots are so true as they who nurture the soil that feeds so many and for which so many have sacrificed.

This issue of “New Holland News” is a tribute to farmers and ranchers whose love of country is forever bound to their love for the land they work. While others may wave the flag or answer their country’s call to arms, the patriotic duty of farmers has always been to remain on the land, faithful sentinels of the soil that provides food and fiber for all, in wartime and peace.

In this issue you are invited to read about some of the people who pioneered the magnificent family farm traditions shared throughout North America. Many of them started with little more than a strong back and a will to make the land yield. By their labor they forged a tie with the land, an enduring bond that could be passed on to their children and their children’s children.
