New FX forage harvesters provide powerful, high-capacity chopping

Custom harvesters and large dairy operators who require powerful, high-capacity chopping performance will appreciate the productivity-boosting features of the new FX self-propelled forage harvesters from New Holland. Three new models—FX30, FX40, and FX60—are built to work faster in all crop conditions, with more operator convenience.

Feedrolls built for productivity

New Holland’s FX harvesters feature a wide feed opening to maximize crop intake for fast chopping. Wide feedrolls move crop directly from the pickup to the cutterhead. The feedroll drive is speed-synchronized between the header auger and feedrolls for continuous optimum crop feeding and maximum crop input.

Sharp metal slot covers on the front and rear of the top feedroll cut through trash, which is quickly evacuated by impellers on the feedroll shafts. For extra durability, the FX feedroll module features gearbox-driven top rolls instead of chains and a simplified suspension system.

Cutterhead built to chop and chop

FX harvesters feature an extra-wide cutterhead that is matched to their massive-horsepower engines for maximum productivity in chopping and crop-harvesting performance. The 30-inch, 750-lb.cutterhead is designed for top production, durability and serviceability.

Beveled, reversible knives span the full width of the cutterhead. These double-sided knives offer the most favorable knife-to-shear-bar angle to maximize efficiency in corn, providing a cleaner cut with less power. And, New Holland’s Accucut™ system permits fast, in-field reverse cutterhead sharpening and from-the-cab shearbar adjustments. This system works quickly, so the operator can sharpen knives frequently to increase chopping efficiency.

The new, innovative HydroLoc™ system allows the operator to set the length of cut right from the cab. New hydrostatic drive provides a wide range of cut lengths from 6 mm to 30 mm with an eight-knife cutterhead.

New Holland’s Metalert III® metal detector is an integral component of the HydroLoc system and protects the cutterhead by stopping the feedrolls and attachment drive the moment a piece of ferrous metal enters the feedrolls. By reducing the time between detection and roll stoppage, HydroLoc improves Metalert performance and provides maximum protection. New Holland backs Metalert III with the industry’s best cutterhead protection program, a five-year cutterhead protection guarantee.

CropPro™ Plus processor

New Holland FX self-propelled forage harvesters feature an optional CropPro™ Plus processor. By shredding cobs and stems while cracking and crushing kernels, this crop processor produces high quality silage for cattle rumen. The operator can switch from corn silage to haylage and back in seconds—all from inside the cab.

The CropPro Plus processor is mounted close to the cutterhead, and is the same width as the cutterhead, to reduce the chance of plugging. At the push of a button from inside the cab, CropPro Plus can be opened to its fullest at 8 inches to allow crop to pass through without being processed, and then closed back down.

Wide selection of headers

New Holland offers a wide selection of top-capacity windrow pickup heads, corn headers and row-independent headers for FX harvesters, including three windrow headers with a working width from 10 ft. to 15 ft; three row-crop heads: 4-row narrow, 6-row narrow and 5-row wide; and two row-independent headers: 14 ft.9 in., 6-row narrow and 19 ft.8 in., 8-row narrow.
